Brian Macharia

As a human rights defender, feminist and fierce LGBTQ rights activist and leader, Brian espouses equality and non-discrimination regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, expression, race, ethnicity, religion, health status or disability. Brian is driven by integrity, fairness and justice, the latter of which has shaped their contributions to community organizing and LGBTQ+ movement building. Since 2011, Brian has served in the LGBTQ+ Rights movement in various capacities, using their knowledge, skills and expertise to challenge and dismantle systems of oppression and marginalization of LGBTQ+ persons. Brian holds an Undergraduate Degree in Journalism studies from the University of Nairobi and proudly serves as the Health Justice & Human Rights Coordinator at the Health Global Access Project (Health GAP) Brian hopes for a future where diverse sexual orientation, gender identity and expression is not just tolerated or accepted but is celebrated and revered. Brian identifies as a gender non-binary person and goes by the pronouns they/them/theirs
